Blackberry Health Effects

Blackberries are a good low fat source of vitamin E which help fight infection. Blackberries contain salicylate (which is thought to lower the chance of heart attack) vitamin C, phenolic acids and folate.

Folate or folic acid, is a B vitamin needed for cell growth and replication. Folic acid helps the regeneration process of new tissues and cells. Immune system cells have a high need for folic acid. It is possible that a folic acid deficiency result in a form of anemia. However, this condition responds quickly to folic acid supplementation such as consumption of berries.
